BACK IN THE SADDLE
We all know that racers are made of something different from everyone else and Elyse McKinnon is no exception. This past Saturday she returned to the drag strip with her BMW S 1000 RR for the first time since her CRASH last summer. She did her burnout, the tree dropped, and she was gone.

Her traumatic crash left her with a laundry list of injuries including a broken back. A successful spinal fusion surgery allowed Elyse to launch right down the road to recovery. After receiving clearance from all of her doctors the McKinnon Motorsports team starting making preparations for her to get back on the bike. Elyse said, “Right now I just can’t imagine my life without drag racing but I still have some work to do to get my body back into race shape.”

Elyse and her team were all a little anxious to be back at Heartland Park Topeka but soon felt at ease being back on their home track surrounded by their racing friends. It was a busy day but a great opportunity to shake the dust off the RR and for Elyse to see how it felt to be back in the groove! They still have more testing to complete and competition is only a few weeks away.

Elyse is looking forward to getting more passes under her belt and having a great 2016 season.
