Arizona law to permit filtering

Yes there are too many lawyers down here..... :bluduh

And too many recklessly aggressive drivers. The lane discipline down there is pretty exceptional, too. :rolleyes

I bet they get some really hideous accidents down there at the speeds some people drive.

It approaches Naples, Italy in terms of insanity.

I think, in general it would be nice to allow motorcycles to come to the front of the queue of cars before a construction zone.

Sorry, stand-up riders should be excluded! :doh

What discipline ??? :huh

It all boils down to education and law enforcement and both are sadly lacking. :brow
Some accidents are indeed 'spectacular'....

Just last week a distracted tractor trailer driver rammed into the back of a parked car loaded with kids of whom two died and the rest ended up in ICU.
Still have no idea as to the exact cause, cellphone, drugs, sleep deprivation etc...The car had a flat tire and the driver was waiting for AAA....

Statistically, traffic deaths per capita has been going down for decades. Keep in mind that because of social media and electronic news gathering we are informed of every "marketable news event" almost instantly. The constant barrage makes it appear that traffic deaths, violent crime, etc are on an uptick when in actuality, they are declining. Also, as population density increase, the number of incidences may increase but the rate of incidences may actually be decreasing.

Yes and no! Yes, the multi-year trend has been downward. But no, both traffic deaths and homicides were up in 2021. And no, the media did not make this up.

One data point does not make a trend and I never stated that the media was making anything up. The media is making us more aware of whats going on around us, beyond our immediate sphere. Information overload is altering our perceptions, often despite the factual statistics.

Arizona Law Approved

PHOENIX - Motorcyclists in Arizona will soon be able to ride between lanes in stopped traffic.

Gov. Doug Ducey has signed SB 1273, which allows motorcycle riders to pass a car stopped in the same lane.

The move is only legal if:

The speed limit is 45 miles per hour
The motorcycle is not going faster than 15 miles per hour
The street is divided into at least two lanes with the same direction of travel
Supporters say the law will help riders avoid being sandwiched between two cars or rear-ended.

The bill takes effect 90 days after the legislative session ends.
