Accessory connection? R1100 GS

I just purchased an Autocom and I'd like to hard wire it into a fused wire on the GS. THe Clymer doesn't seem to help me very much. One thing I noticed are three wires in a connector under the passenger seat sitting on top of the fender that have female connections but don't go anywhere, i wonder if one of these is usable , one is brown w green, brown w black and brown with blue .

Any ideas?

Do you just want a fused sonnection, or one that is ignition hot? If just fused then put an inline fuse to the battery positive, and the other to ground. For an ignition hot, my XM comes from the taillight hot.

That sounds like the cat code connector. You need to find a grey/black wire which is the parking light circuit. It will turn off with the key. Or if you use the red/white wire, it will stay on and is also fused. It is the accessory circuit. The other wire for your use is a brown wire and is the ground wire. There will be one adjacent to either of the above two wires.
 
I agree with cjack. I think you described the cat code plug.

I put a Centec power block on mine and can power something like 8 different things. I run my Autocomm power through it and will have an easy connect for GPS, radar, etc. You can mount it on top of your air cleaner as long as you don't keep your seat in the low position.


I ran power to a relay from the battery and tapped into the grey/black wire to the tail light (its in the wire bundle running along the fender to the tail light)so the power would be switched. It wasn't to difficult. You could also just run power to a relay and swicthing with the grey / black (without using a Centec) and just power your Autocomm

if you are looking for an "always on" supply than i would agree, go with a direct connection to the battery. for switched power, i've used the parking light for items that don't draw too much power. not the best permanent soution, but if you seal it all in the headlight area, it shouldn't cause too much trouble.
