abandoned /5 in Oakland, CA

I know this is a longshot, but this week a local Good Samaritan told me about an abandoned /5 in Oakland, CA. The bike has New York plates, last reg'd in 2015.

It looks like it may have been stolen, the headlight is missing, wires hanging out, and there's fuel in the tank. But it's fairly complete, and could be restored.

Anybody know anybody that can run the license plate in New York to find an owners name? I googled "A Broken Spoke" and the address on the sticker, and it doesn't look like a motorcycle shop anymore.

All this is, for the good and the bad, it connected through the internet. I’ll bet that if you took a picture of the NY plate and the VIN tag to your local local or state police, they can give you a fair amount of information on the bike….. as long as they are not tied up with the fires.

Thanks for the thought, OM. The Airhead that spotted the bike is going to go back over and get the VIN.

Just for the helluvit I googled "A Broken Spoke" and it came up as being in Leicester, NC now, not Asheville, NC as the sticker says. The current address was shown as 3420 New Leicester Hwy, and in google maps, it does NOT look like it was ever motorcycle shop!

But the last tags on the bike were from 2015 so maybe in the last ten years the moto shop has been replaced by another business. Lord knows that's been an ongoing issue as a lot of moto shop owners age out and retire.

Bill Plam has been in Hendersonville, NC with Boxer 2 Valve for awhile, and that's about 24 miles from Asheville. I'll call them next week and see if they knew of "A Broken Spoke". And I'll email the NC Airmarshal too.
