Well it's kinda rare that I find someone still mining in the mostly played out cave of common sense here in Mass.
Here is a commencement speech from Wellesley High School here in MA.

Each and every child is special.......

Yeah, so.

The schools, at levels, are just doing what the parents want. As long as each kid get's some praise, the parents are all thrilled. In fact, if the school is really smart, each and every kid can qualify as an "XYZ" scholar, if the parents are willing to pay extra. It's a great way to maximize the profitability of the school and maximize customer satisfaction.

Does it yield a better graduate? Does anyone really care?
