99 K12RS Oil level clarification.

61996

IBA# 5819
I think I saw a post or two about this topic but not sure of what was determined.
Changed the oil and filter today and put in 3Q. Ran it for a few minutes or so and the oil level was in the middle of the sight glass; dead nuts on....bingo.
(Measured on the center stand).
Book spec calls for 4Q. 3.96 to be exact.
So...do I add another Q, or half...or leave it as is?

Thanks in advance.

A BMW mechanic at Budd's suggests filling with fresh oil as you did, but then taking the bike for short ride. He does not recommend running the bike just in the garage. After the ride is when he suggests checking the oil level and add as necessary.

Oilheads like the level at the dot. Flop 4 K bikes are OK at the dot or up to the top of the ring. I would add about 8 ounces and go for a ride.
