99 K1200lt Cruise control problem resolved

My old thread was deep so I thought I would start a new thread about how I eventually solved my problem with a non-functional cruise control. After viewing the video I referred to in my previous thread on this subject I realized that a good pair of ears, capable of hearing the clicking of the microswitches was essential. I suffer from high frequency hearing loss and can't hear the turn signal in my car click. When I found someone with good ears they immediately noticed that the switch in the clutch assembly was not clicking. Sure enough opening that up revealed a loose switch that once tighten into place passed that part of the self test. However, the self test still did not work with the brakes. I then removed the fancy flashing LED bulbs I discussed earlier and replaced with good old, and cheap, incandescent bulbs and viola, it passed all the self test and was fully function. So after 9000 miles of driving without cruise control (pure torture) I am free at last.

The video you refer to is a great help. In my case all I needed was an adjustment to the throttle cable(s) to fix my cruise control problem.

yea, at the rally I spoke to a former BMW tech who is now a salesman. He said he used that self test often and was the first to tell me to go back and look at it closely because there are several caveats throughout that are important to finding the problem.
