2025 k1600gtl low seat, standard seat

There is usually a part number sticker attached to the underside of the seat. If you check on let's say MAX BMW's online parts fiche, you can compare the part number to the low/standard or high seat part numbers. 99% of k1600's are ordered withe the low/standard seat.

If the paper sticker is still attached to the seat pan, the part number for a 2022 GTL is 52 53 9 829 803
If you can take a picture from the side, someone might be able to tell which seat you have.

How can I tell if I have a low or standard height seat on my new 2025 gtl? It looks like a low. Thanks in advance.
Did you receive the sales sheet when you purchased the bike?

2. Physical Inspection (The Seam Test)
If the sticker is missing or illegible, you can identify the low seat by looking at how the materials meet at the back of the rider's section: [1]
  • Low Seat: The rider’s rear fabric/material overlaps the front of the passenger's material.
  • High/Standard Seat: The rider's rear fabric sits under the passenger's front fabric.
VIN Decoding
If you are looking at a bike on the showroom floor, you can check its original build sheet. By entering the 17-digit VIN into a Decoder or you can search for Option 499 (Lowering) or Option 498 (Lowered Suspension), which usually means the bike came equipped with the lowered setup.

That might apply to some other BMW models, but makes no sense for the K1600. There is no factory suspension lowering kit for the K1600's. And there is no fabric overlap difference between the 3 seats (4 if you include the 719 seat) that are available for the GTL.

If the part number sticker is missing or illegible on the underside of the GTL seat, the really easy way to tell is to measure the distance from the main seat up to the front edge of the passenger seat. Take this measurement at the middle of the seat. The measurement doesn't have to be dead-on, as there's roughly 1" difference between each of the seats. My stock GTL low/standard seat is in a storage box for safe keeping, as use a RDL seat. If you lack the part number and have to measure, let us know and one of us can compare it to one of our seats.

You may want to fix the internet as that is where the information came from. No need to criticize any post trying to help a member with a problem.
If you have the low version, perhaps you could post a picture to help the member out?

I can't fix those who trust that fellow Al, who has taken over the internet with loads of incorrect garbage.

The standard seat that comes with the GTL is what BMW refers to as the Low seat. The rider seat back is roughly 8" on the Low seat, as shown in the attached photo below.

And if you look in the BMW parts fiche (which you can be found on-line with MAX BMW among other sites), you will also see they offer two additional non-Option 917 seats, that are constructed identically, other than the height of the rider seat relative to the passenger seat. the passenger seat height is the same for all three seats:
  • 52 53 7 729 321 Low seat (what comes standard with the bike)
  • 52 53 7 718 500 Unspecified
  • 52 53 8 545 128 High seat (what comes if the bike was specifically ordered with the high seat option)
And as I mentioned, there is also a Option-917 seat, which comes in only one height. And for some earlier years, there was a Exclusive version of hte GTL, which came with a longer passenger section of the seat.

The part number is printed on a sticker on the underside of the seat near the rear of the passenger seat, as shown in the attached photo.

The pictures ought to help the member trying to figure out what they have. :thumb
