2019 RT: Tapping Powerlet Module on Right Side Fairing for Accessory Power with Posi-Taps

Has anyone tapped electrical off of the powerlet outlet behind the brake side front fairing? I'm looking to tap a quadlock charging head off this line and mount it to the top of the fairing just above the powerlet port. Im thinking of tapping the line behind the fairing utilizing a posi-tap connection, but want to find out if it may cause any Canbus flags.

I plan to keep the powerlet port in place and the accessory DIN is already occupied by the factory fog lamps.

My wireless charger has a quick disconnect so it doesn't run down the battery, but an ezcan would be a good way to go. I don't have one myself btw..

I have a 2021 RT. I am preparing to install a Quad Lock charger and powering it by tapping into the accessory outlet on the right side of the fairing. Seemed like a safe place to get switched power and (probably) won't upset the CANBUS.

Probably will overload that circuit. Those wireless chargers pull a fair amount of current. You are better off using a Ezcan or similar to get it true switched power on its own circuit.

I have a radar detector, zumo xt and quadlock wireless charger tapped into that, no issues.

An $8 automotive relay switched by the accessory outlet and wired directly to the battery is all you need.
