2015 k1600gt Final Drive

Hi to all out there. 2015 K1600GT . 33K
Has anybody seen a final drive disassembled or over hauled? I am looking for guidance as this happened to me about 2 days ago , Long sleeve heavy t shirt got loose from the cargo net on pillion and wrapped around the final drive and into rear brake caliper . I figured the ABS sensor was gone so I ordered a new one and should be here by Tues/Wed. I have a new ring and a used FD which I will prob service, inspect internally with a scope and install/swap out ...My concern is that Im having a lot of trouble pulling material out from where the wheel bolts on to to the FD case. It looks like there is a very small gap and material might be stuck in there. Any help or pics or diagrams out there? Thank you.

Wow -- terrible luck. :(

Plan on having to get a puller to remove the wheel bolt flange (part 3 in the diagram) from the axle spline, and for the dust seal (4) and oil seal (5) to be toast.

I've seen a how-to video for removing the flange; I'll see if I can find it again.

I would avoid pulling the flange if at all possible. Take forceps or needlenosed pliers, pull some material away and cut with a x-acto or razor blade until you have gotten all the way through and try to peel it out. Be careful when you get close to the seal.

There is plenty of opportunity for this in the pics you show.

Riders really, really need to double and triple check their luggage and make sure everything is secure. If something comes loose and gets caught in your rear wheel, it can all go bad in an instant:
