2004 R1150RT w/ 2 Brothers Muffler...

Badger
My '04 R1150RT has a 2 Brothers header pipe (part #005-9204) and a 2 Brothers round cannister muffler (C4 is the only marking on it). The charcoal cannister has also been removed. I would like to find a new slip-on cannister that fits the current header pipe (OD 50mm). I've repacked the 2 Brothers muffler twice but no change. The backfiring from this thing is atrocious!!! If you have any suggestions, please pass them along. Thanks.

Every 2-Bros pipe I've ever heard was horribly loud - indicating that it's not really "muffling" and has insufficient back pressure (call it a cop magnet!). I'm not familiar with that particular header, but if it eliminates the cat, then the back pressure is quite drastically reduced.
Verify that the valves, throttle bodies, and TPS are all set up properly first...
The bike is probably backfiring because the necessary re-adjustment of the fuel mix is beyond the range of the bike's computer. The AF-XiED "sensor manipulator" may be one way to correct this, and/or replace the header with a stock unit, and/or replace the rear "muffler" with another brand, such as Akrapovic.

Thank you! That is great input that I'll definitely check into. Mike.

I just installed a GPR Exhaust, Satinox,, I bought direct from them in Italy and it is EU street legal with the db killer.
I really like the deep sound, not too loud, doesn't pop or backfire much under deceleration, and I didn't have to change the throttle body sync or anything.
It revs faster, but there is less engine braking.
NOT a neighbour hater pipe.

Finally my bike sounds like a motorbike

(all I ever really heard with the stock cat and muffler was my oil chain slapping when it was cold, the valves, and the intake)

I would put the stock stuff back on except for the cannister and enjoy the sound of the quiet stock bike. All your neighbors and the people you drive by will not be annoyed anymore by the unnecessary extra noise :)

I have a ‘94 R1100RS. I liked the bike, but the the sound coming out the muffler was kinda wimpy. Got a bargain on a Staintine system; installed it. It wasn’t good. I was going to go back stock, then I added a aftermarket chip. The exhaust sound cleaned up and the performance felt improved. The chip was adjustable so the average rider could install it. I was good to go.
