2002 K1200RS High Idle

Frank, Devern, OM, Greg

Devern, Frank is right. The only connection other than to the actual gauge is for the warning light.

Ambient temperatures were within 5 to 10 degrees, 10 less than the shop when I took her out for a shake down ride.

And YES Greg, Rotti is driving me nuts. Some of the results of the changes and parts swap just don't make sense.

I just finished an annual brake flush on GG II, our 2008 K1200GT. Time to stop wrenching and do some riding...

More to come in a day or so...

I believe the temp sensor in the water pump is for the temp gauge and really has no effect on engine operation.

Frank
That’s my impression too, similar to the older k bikes, but that would be easy to verify by simply disconnecting it. The puzzle continues…

Best,
DeVern

Ladies, Gentlemen,

After three years of tinkering (some say "flailing") Rotti is back on the road!

I didn't pay close enough attention to the write up from Iron Horse and Bee Mer Worx.

They installed a Control Unit Motronic 232 and Rotti idled down as she should. I finally picked up on the fact that they then reinstalled my 477 unit.

I pulled the Control Unit off Rotti, and yes, it was my original 477.

So, I googled a Control Unit and found a 296 (the latest). It was brand new, never been installed, for $540

Once installed, Rotti warmed up and idled as she should.

I took her on a ride around Cochise County, about 80 miles worth, and she ran great. At stops she idled down and all was good.

Couldn't have been a nicer day with temps in the mid to high 60s and clear blue skies.

I stopped on Hereford Road and took a picture with the unique north flowing San Pedro River in the foreground (string of cottonwood trees) and the snow dusted Huachuca Mountains in the background.
