A question for the Collective:
After a recent long tour, my 2004 K1200GT was ready for an oil change. Though it had only been 6k miles since the final drive gear oil had been changed, I went ahead and changed that, too. I found some substantial metal slivers or shavings collected at the drain...
Pic of fuzz on drain plug after 5k...Amsoil looked as clean and golden colored as when I put it in last year...It did have a metallic sheen to it and I could see minute particles suspended in the oil.
When I cleaned off the drain plug off, the metallic particles turned to a very fine slurry. No...
I know they are many different opinions on what to use and not use.
I have a 81 R100 that has been sitting for years and needs fresh fluids . At this point I don't want to put any synthetics yet , just conventional oil and gear lube.
Can you recommend brands , weights that work and will not...
Hi all
I am set to do a change on the gear oil in my shaft, and the instructions I downloaded are not specific on the torque needed for my moto.
For the Transmission Gear Oil change it mentions that a torque of 30Nm, but that some R1100 need a torque of 23Nm, which is it?
Also, under the Rear...
Anybody have a good home-made or store bought tool, other than tubbing or funnel so when you drain the oil from the gear box is does not go all over the cat conv?
Thanks!
