cleaning riding gear

I noticed this thread on rejuvenating the “high-vis” qualities of riding gear- https://forums.bmwmoa.org/threads/hi-vis-yellow-fading-fix.106314/ It got me thinking about cleaning riding gear be it jacket, pants helmet liner etc. I usually wash my gear outside with a suitable “soap/cleaner”...
