03 K1200GT Oil Filter Threads STRIPPED!!!

The threads that retain my oil filter are stripped. I dropped the oil pan and it appears that the filter "sending unit" is not replaceable. Could this be true? Do I need to replace the entire lower case? Is this a big job? It does not look fun. Does anybody know an easier fix? I know...

    Oil Filter R80RT '86

I've been changing the oil and filter on my R80RT for a number of years but there seems to be a change in the newest oil filter. The bike calls for the hinged filter - no problem. The filter can go in either end first. This time, however, the new filter has the normal black rubber on one end...
