Starting Problems After Air Filter Replacement. '95 K75

I now understand why all of you say that it is a pain in the ass to deal with the air filter. I finally checked my air filter today.
The PO installed a K&N and it is super dry. I question if he used any oil on it.

My biggest problem is that my bike will not start now. No wires were unplugged or anything. Any ideas?

Did you dislodge the 2 1/2" rubber elbow that connects the air meter to the intake plenum?

I did move that at one point, so it could be a problem.

I am guessing that you know something that I don't. My first though is that the bike would still start and run. It would just get MUCH more air than it should so it would run very poorly.

I think I am about to learn something. My 2 1/2" duct is not in good shape. I have a new one on order. Tell me, what would the result be if the elbow is missing or torn or one of the clamps was not tight enough?

By the way, the PO installed a K&N filter. What is your opinion of them?

Probably.

Not true. It would get less fuel than it should. It would still suck in the same amount of air that the pistons displace, but the air meter would not register all of that air. So the computer would only inject enough fuel to match what the meter sees.

It wouldn't run.

Paul and Don don't care for them for their poor filtration capabilities. The stock filter filters better and provides more than enough flow. But that is not why it won't start.

Thanks for the quick answers. It appears that my starting problem stems from the duct between my air box and plenum.

I will let you know if the new duct corrects the problem.
