Anyone going to the Cass Rally in WV?

I'm planning on heading out either Thursday afternoon from the Manassas area or Friday Morning from Woodbridge to attend the Cass Mountain Rally at Boyer Station campground in WV near the Green Bank/Cass area. The rally goes from Friday May 28 thru May 31 and have some great roads picked out for the ride down if anyone is interested in hooking up for the ride down/back and a probable day trip to Beartown State Park at some point over the weekend.

Its a great, small laidback affair in a beautiful area with tons of great riding.

That is all.....

I may just see you there RM. I'll drag my Dad along. h

I was heading out to the Chicken Rally...but plans have changed. I'm heading down to the Cass Rally. Never been there but I have been down there a bunch. Wonderful roads for sure! I'm going to be early and may arrive Tuesday or Wednesday the week of the rally.:thumb

Of all the events I supported in the past, the Cass Rally was always my favorite. Low key, beautiful part of the country, very friendly environment.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't ever rent enough tents to keep me coming back.

But if you are in the area and are looking for an event to attend that weekend, seriously consider the Cass Rally.

I've been down there for Triumph events (Black water Falls State Park) and for Euro riders gatherings (North Bend state Park) but never for this one. I'm really looking forward to it. The people down there couldnt be nicer and the roads are fantastic! I cant wait to get down, get set up and relax. I'm thinking about checking out the Steam Locomotive rides...sounds like fun!

Are there two Cass Rallies? I thought this was in October.

There was an F800 Rally in Cass later last year, think it was Oct. I was initially going to be there, but no one rented any tents.

I *think* the F800 rally moves from location to location (along the eastern coast somewhere), though they may be looking for a permanent location (purely conjecture on my part).

I just googled it, looks like their 2010 rally (in early Oct) is located wherever Fontana Village Resort is:

The steady state BMW Cass Rally is held by the Mountaineer Club, and they run it pretty low key. No vendors, just ride and kick back in the WV mountains every Memorial Day weekend.

I think you are correct Sherpa...I remember some chatter about the F800 guys going down there......I'm really looking forward to a great time down there...I really need a low key weekend!

kool! I'm hoping to head down Thurs. around noon right from work and set up. Probably be on the new machine, a silver Honda IT700V (its actually an NT but I removed the first part of the "N" because although I'm IT guy I don't do Windows!). there is a place to eat and get beer and ice right at the camp ground. Fun rally fer sure.
The Case railway ride is neat, the Shey gear driven engine is pretty kool and the ones they have are the only two still in operation.
Hope to see some of you all there.

I'm going Wed.....I will be on a blue GS with PA plates and USMC Retired license plate frame....stop by and say hello!

damn, I'm cutting it close. still waiting on gasket and seals to close up the gear box and throw it back on the bike.

hoping to be on this bike:

almost packed, got a new tent from REI, the ones they had on sale this past weekend that someone posted about on this forum, nice compact unit about 1/3 ad big as my old one, even fits in the top case and picked up a new bedroll, again much smaller and lighter than my old air matrass.

Thinking friday to go do the tour of Green Bank and then Sat. ride over 33 to 219 down to Beartown State Park then back up along Anthony Station Road (very nice 1 1/2 lane road thru the national forest back to 92 W. beartown is pretty kool if you've never been there, an interesting rock formation where the mountain side cracked and parts slid down opening up big fissures.

I've only been to the Cass rally once, and that was back in the 70's. Unfortunately I can't make it this year but it's already on my calendar for 2011. I can leave Atlanta and spend a day or so on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I'm very interested in finding some curvy roads to WV.

Unfortunately our plans have changed and we're disappointed that we won't be able to make the Chicken Rally this weekend. Instead, I'll be working tomorrow.

What an awesome Rally! This was my first time down there and I cant say enough good things about the club that put the rally on....GREAT JOB! The roads in WVa are fantastic to ride. You wont find any nicer folks on the planet. At every stop they went out of there way to make us feel comfortable and always willing to direct us to local attractions and lightly traveled roads. You owe it to yourself to put this on on your schedule. Just keep in mind its low key and no vendors.
