Here is the list of hotels in the Johnson City area that have offered special rates. This is not meant to be an all inclusive list a there are many hotels in the tri-cities area that are in close proximity to the rally site, so check around!

As of now I understand the Jameson is sold out but that is the only one I am aware of that is.

I hope this helps! And oh yeah...I had them all spaced neatly in the preview window but...... :banghead

Hey vanmar27, I got a reservation at the Jameson yesterday, so sold out? I don't know about that.
Meanwhile, after my initial post, here, I saw that the 2009 Rally is at the Appalachian Fairgrounds. Assuming this is correct, using Garmin MapSource and its Find Nearest Places>Lodging>Hotels/Motels, I did this list; the nearest hotels are listed with address, phone and distance in miles to the Fairgrounds. I can say the first Super 8 told me they were sold out. There are more but they are further, yet.

Hey Tweety, you guys are getting rooms for a rally in 09?

Are they that well attended?
:lurk

b707142: You better move fast, you can always cancel at a later date at no extra cost

I don't know about the other BMWMOA Chartered Clubs; but I can guarantee you that #89, AZ Beemers, is ALL over this Rally. Incredible interest in riding the area!

I booked a room for my 11 year old son Seth and I a week ago at the Super 8 in Johnson City and they were already sold out of non smoking rooms with 2 beds!!!

I have been a member of BMWMOA since 1982 and I know Tweety1 has been a member since 1981. I'll bet the farm this Rally will break ALL attendance records!!!

I'm a fairly new BMW MOA member and BMW motorcycle owner, and was extremely surprised to hear about the next rally coming to my hometown! I only live a couple of miles away from the fairgrounds, so if the BMW MOA needs anyone to go on site during the year, or any other help, I'd be glad to assist in any way that I can!

Appalacian Fair

I visited the Appalacian Fair grounds on my way home from Gillette. My first thought (after the huge wide open spaces of the Gillette site) was that the fair grounds looked small. But after riding around and looking it over, I think we will all be very pleased! :dance MAIN GATE:

Vanmar, THANKS! for taking this on. I'll be there, and will be volunteering. :blah

You are at Ground Zero.........please warn your friends and neighbors that their world will be taken over by BMW motorcycles for the month of July next year. We will be everywhere! Enjoy being a member of the invading force.:dance

I agree with Beemerdon, I think this will be the largest National ever.

Vance,

I was floored when I found out the 2009 rally was going to be in my home town. I hope I can be a help to you and the other members with some "inside information" I plan to start on some lists that will include great local places to eat and also locations of some of our local revenue producing speed traps. Please contact me and let me know how I can be of assistance in making the 2009 rally a wonderful event

Yes, I booked a room, because I was going to Gillette for my first MOA rally, and after picking up my pre-registration gear, got a return call from UAL about leaving based on a medical emergency at home. That worked out well, but for me the Gillette rally was a disaster I spent 2.5 hours at, and then, :bolt

I'll be there

This one should be huge. I'll volunteer to work a shift in the beer tent.

Hotel reservations?! Blasphemy!!

After looking the site pictures over, I'm calling one of the spots along the trees for my tent! :D

Based on location, distance from a big percentage of members, and good riding right outside out door, I think this is going to be a popular one, indeed. I was sad to miss Gillette; I'm going to be sure not to miss this one! I'll jump on the volunteer bandwagon that Beemokat started; I'll volunteer to work rally registration first thing Thursday morning. I did this in WI and it was lots of fun!

Now that we know where to find you, make sure the beverage cooler is stocked after hours.

Me? I still prefer credit card camping.

Looking at what's available the Value Place does have a kitchen area which could be handy and is about at the lowest of the price (which is by the week, even though you don't need to book it for that long) and proximity is about as close as you can get. Can''t decide whether to motel it or camp, I like camping but in the midst of 6000 others ??? I like being able to get away from the crowds when I feel so inclined, so I got a room which I can cancel later if I feel like giving the camping a go, would they allow me to camp on one of the rooftops?? Ha Ha!

Beverage cooler? I drink at the beer tent. The only thing I MIGHT have would be a flask of scotch. Tell you what; I'll bring a beverage cooler and keep things chilled if you make sure to clear some floor space if it happens to rain. :ha

For the record, I have nothing against staying in a hotel. if it helps more people come to the rally, I think it's a great thing! :thumb

Deal! Afterall, it wouldn't be the first time someone has crashed my hotel room.

Thx for the update Vance. I know with Mari, Connie and U; the rally will be a success. Barry, your buddy from Arkansas. :thumb

Looked for you in Gillette Barry but never saw you. Wondered about you though for sure!

Thanks Hank for the photos! I believe there will be ample area for the camping folks but as always the premium spots will go first and I suspect very quickly.

The last report I had from the Jameson was that they were sold out but they may have opened more rooms. The Mgr. there was "blown away" when folks were calling from Gillette to book! We had tried to warn these guys about the BMW "takeover" that was soon to take place...I think now they may be beginning to believe it!

Thanks everyone for the offer to volunteer! We are sure going to need the help. As usual there will be upcoming information on how to sign up for that. I do expect this rally to set a record for attendance and that will mean more help will be needed than ever before. For the many that have volunteered in the past, you know what a rewarding experience it is. For those who haven't, I urge you to pick a job from the many available and sign up! The volunteer spirit is what makes this whole party so much fun! (How's that for recruiting early?) :clap

As I said for the rooms before..call around there are many options available in the surrounding area.

Vance,

Thanks for chairing the 2009 Rally. I missed the Gillette Rally because it was too far and I diidn't have the vacation time.

The Tennessee Rally is a nice ride from my home in North Carolina. I just made my hotel reservations for me and three riding companions. We are old guys and can't do the camping.

I'm looking forward to this Rally.
