'06 R1200RT Maintenance Problems?

surfajoe

Aloha ka kou
Just picked up an '06 RT (4K mi) & looking for any advice on what I should watch for in preventive maintenance. Never had any major problems with my '00 RT, though I road it hard, but I only had it a couple years before getting '02 K1200RS.
Any bad experiences or failures?

The common failures are EWS ring, fuel strips and final drives. I have had all three on my 08. A quick search will give all the details of each.

I believe the EWS failures started with '07 bikes... most will have been replaced under warranty by now. The replacement version and the version on earlier bikes do not fail with any regularity.

Servo Brakes

Flush the brake system as the brake fluid should be replaced every two years. It's a big job that might prevent a servo or abs unit failure.

Could be right, my buddy has 05 and never had problem.
