Correct Oil Filter for '73 R60/5

New member
In the middle of an oil change.

The filter that came out is a single unit - number HF161

Bike came with a spare oil filter but a two piece 11 42 1 337 575

From what I see, the new filter ending in 575 is for an airhead with an oil cooler - I'm not sure but am inclined to say my bike does not have an oil cooler.

Here's a link showing the options from euromotoelectrics

Real OEM fiche says the correct filter is: 11421337570 Looks like it comes with the O rings on both ends but I'll need to purchase a gasket. I'm pretty sure this is it.

Looking for confirmation!

Thanks as always

KT

Probably should consult the BMW fiche:

You need 11421337570. This is the hinged filter. I wouldn't be so concerned about needing to get the straight filter...the hinged filter has proved to be quite adequate and may even be better because it doesn't have the long unsupported filter area...the hinged filter with the metal rings at the ends that meet in the middle actually provide better support especially under cold start situations.

Why Kurt I think you just narrowly averted an oil filter thread. :bolt

You sly dog you! ;-)
