Reverse on a /2 Rig?

On another forum, a visitor from Japan chimed to describe how the bike was backing up...at least it helped me. Sounds like the right hand was just releasing the parking brake, but the transmission is special from Kayser in Germany. The top part of this page discusses the Kaysers transmissions.
