What a day....

I was minding my own business at 7:05AM on Saturday morning when my cell phone rang. It was a good friend, riding/touring companion and the PO of both of my 1200GS and 1200RT.

"You up yet?"

"Yup. Sup?"

"Come help me ride some of my bikes?"

"Be there in an hour."

And just like that, one of my most memorable days EVAR began. By the day's end I'd ridden 13 bikes (including my RT) from his collection. Each bike was like new...some original, some restored. It was an unforgettable experience. Here's the list:

2008 BMW r1200RT

1967 Honda 305 Superhawk

1971 Honda CB 450

1974 Honda CB 550 Four

1971 Honda SL 350

1970 Honda CB 750K0

1951 Vincent Black Shadow

1976 BMW R90/S

1979 Suzuki GS1000S

1983 Honda 650 Turbo 650

1967 Triumph Bonneville

2013 BMW K1600 GT

O.K., let's go ride! I could use some help::D

1971 Harley FLH w/sidecar
1973 Kawasaki H1 500

By the way, I was too late to my friend's to help with his Ducati's...including a 916. Actually, I probably wouldn't have been give the keys to those. He also had a 6 cylinder Honda that we couldn't start (drat) and I think the same Kawasaki 500...is that a 2 stroke? Wicked engine I'm told.

Seriously? Are you related to Jay Leno or something? How big is your garage?

Yes, it's a 2-stroke. Smaller sibling of the 750 H2. Where is your friend from? I may know him. Seriously.

Just being related to Jay Leno wouldn't help. I would have to have as much money as he does. I do not. But I have a house with a 3-car garage and a walk-out basement. And an understanding wife. In the winter, the bikes hibernate in the basement. In the summer, two cars have to park in the driveway to make room for the bikes.

1951 Vincent Black Shadow!
Sorry but that's the one bike that trumps all others on the list. Possibly all others period.
Just my opinion, never having been on one.
As always: YMMV :wave

I think you are right. In my friend's view it is the holy grail. Especially with this bike's provenance (being Big Sid's own personal Vincent).

Sorry, I am too young to get excited about a Black Shadow. I can't see myself having fun on that bike as I have on any of my other bikes or ones that I wish to own. I have seen them close by, sat on them and puttered around in a parking lot on one. Not my bike. I do not own bikes that I just push on and off trailers to shows and exhibitions. And the Vincent Black Shadow as well as the Brough Superior are just totally overrated due to their status as collectibles.

Mike...are all 3 CBX's rolling?
I rode one of the first in the Houston area to take it home for my buddy who dropped it in a gravel lot on day one in front of me and broke his wrist...

and to the OP...sweet day indeed...I got to ride a lot of the 70's superbikes as a teenager when my brothers buddies stopped by...the Triumph Triple and for sure, the Kawa 500 made me pee a little:laugh
I had a SL350 and a Dream 305 for a bit

My oldest bro had a Maico 501 that spit me off after having a heck of a time getting it to kick over in the first place...140 lbs of me had me outmatched.
