I talked to another BMW rider today who told me that BMW motor oil will soon be made from natural gas (GTL process). Anyone know if this is true? If so, should I consider using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum on my next oil change?

Shell makes BMW's oil and has for a while now. It's made from NG AFAIK.

You know... you learn something every day...

Is this a bad thing? Shell states "It converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oils with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil."
