Bugs in your teeth

ramble

ohbeemer
I've had plenty of "incidents" with yellow jackets, hornets, Mormon crickets, and other nasties. 2021 marks the emergence of the 17 year locust or cicada. Looks like it will cover a lot of the midwest and eastern states. Lotsa luck, buy industrial strength cleaners they are as big as your thumb.:blah

That's gonna be hard on the farmers! I remember locusts while visiting my grandmother in Illinois when I was a kid. It was pretty wild.

Usually in Ohio July and August. One year we were playing music on the front porch (acoustic instruments ) and we could not hear each other due to the noise of the locust's .

Hydrogen Peroxide works wonders on cleaning dead bugs. It is available in convenient spray bottles for carrying along for the ride.

Cleaning bugs off of the bike is an after though. Having a yellow jacket in your shirt demands your attention right now...

Yeah, I remember a bee going down the inside of my jacket once.

My wife had that happen once when she was riding without a jacket and the bee got under her shirt stinging her multiple times.
One time I was riding behind a Vetter fairing with my face shield open and I started to have a sneezing fit.
I had to pull over and when I blew my nose I found a bee.

Bugs like locusts leave a big SPLAT on surfaces. Good to see the recommendations for cleaning.

Had a wasp fly INSIDE of my helmet, as it was summer, and I had my face shield open. He squeezed in by my cheek. Didn't start stinging until I tried to reach in with my glove and flick him out. I was riding in traffic at the time, so once he started stinging, I had to just grit my teeth, and get to the first place I could turn off.

I ended up NOT crashing, and getting to a parking lot where I could pull off my helmet. He ended up flying away, I ended up with a couple major stings on my cheek that apparently hit a nerve because I had a bruise and my cheek was numb for like 3 days.
