    1994 K75S Dakar Yellow

So I have owned a 1994 Dakar Yellow K75S for about 3 years. The fellow that I purchased it from, told me that he heard that BMW imported a limited number of the DY K75 S models o the USA in 1994, to commemorate their Paris to Dakar rally wins. He thought it was either 100, or, one DY K75S per dealer. I have tried to research this online, with no luck. I also reached out to a well known mid Atlantic dealer, but did not hear anything.

I am wondering if anyone in the MOA has heard something similar, or has anything definitive on the subject. Thanks.

    Welcome to the Forum!

I've had a couple of riding buddies who've had one of the special edition Dakar Yellow K75Ss. Since I'm all about K75Ss, I did some research on them. BMW made them to coincide with the introduction of the Dakar Yellow R1100RSs in '94. They fiured it would look good in dealerships to have one of each on the floor.

They built the 100 yellow K75Ss all in a row, so they are all identical and are numbered(vin#) consecutively. Unlike all other K75s, they do not have a color scheme number tag under the seat. They all came with ABS. Those were the only yellow K75Ss. Only 4600 K75Ss were imported to the US between 1986 and 1995. The yellow ones were all in one block (somewhere between 154200 and 154500 IIRC). The VIN decoder that I used to use, that had a LOT of detail is no longer around. The other one doesn't work very well.

Nice bikes! I would love to own one to go with my other 6 Ss If I had more parking space.

    Welcome to the forum.
Your bike looks to be in very good condition. How many miles on it?
I've only seen a few Dakar Yellow K75S in person.

    Guys,

    Thanks for the welcome.

That is great information about the DY K75S models. I was starting to think that it was just a myth, about the 100. Mine is #154446.

Lee, Thanks for compliment. The bike has 51,XXX on it currently. I haven’t been riding it since New Year’s Day, as the weather has been really crappy in southeast Pa. Spring can’t get here fast enough.

    Love it!

Appears to be an aftermarket Corbin seat that has maybe been recovered. Also has the aftermarket motorsport roundels and injector cover from CC products.

Do you still have the original engine spoiler?

    Lee,

Good eye. The original owner did the seat and the roundels so donít have too much info on that.

The only thing that Iíve changed is to install an original Staintune slip on. That was hard to source, but found one online. Excellent craftsmanship on these venerable mufflers.

Yes, the belly pan is safely hanging in my basement. I just prefer the look without it.

That looks like a nice one. The BMW black, was more like a metallic graphite, IIRC.

    Thanks guys,
Clean tank, fuel pump, sending unit, injectors, battery, fresh fluids and it popped right off. Still more to do but the hope is that it will be a loaner for a Northeast trip this June.

    Why are you selling it?

I would mention in the ad you have the belly pan.

Lee, apparently this thread was his pre ad (spread the word) before the actual listing.
