I have successfully repaired these switches at a fraction of the cost of replacing them.
It takes some good desoldering / soldering skills and takes about ½ an hour.
BMW part # 61 31 8 543 110 Dealer price: $120usd
Used on ’03 and later R, F and K models

Symptoms of a failing switch:
1) Bike is slow to turn on / intermittent / won’t turn on - jiggling key helps
2) Bike won’t turn off – battery must be disconnected
The issue is a failing internal microswitch. This part is available from Newark Electronics
for under $10.
The Part # is V4NST7UL Saiia
By cutting one tab off it directly replaces the old part.
