Hey Guys,

I installed my Ram Mount next to the Nav V and the speedometer app I like. Let me know what you think?

Steve

I can see that being handy on a bike that does not have a GPS but not sure why you use it on the RT when the Nav V has most of the same info.

Was the Ninja the bike that's off 8 MPH? On most newer BMWs I usually hear of speedometer error in the 3% to 4% range.

The Nav V is sometimes hard to see with the sun glare and this is high and a large display in your line of sight. In the car you can also use the HUD (Heads Up Display). See the link below, it's also free.

The Ninja speed error I'll put down to changed gearing and new tires but still 8 or 9 MPH at 65 was way off, just glad I never got pulled over.

The app might be nice to use on a bicycle if you don't have a bicycle computer.

This is what I used for the mount. You will also need a longer stainless steel screw M5 - 0.8 x 30mm, a stainless washer and lock washer, and a drop of Lock-tight. I also put some double-sided tape on it to keep it in place. Along with the Ram Mount items. Cost was around $60.00.

Does the tank bag rain cover have a clear top so you can see the map when the cover is on?

Very handy for Canadian RT's (my 2008 RT only labeled in Km). My GPS does show Miles but the writing is very small. I really appreciate having quick easy access to both. Towns in the US have a penchant for many different speeds with very short notice. Mental conversion on the fly works to be close but nothing like knowing exactly what speed one is travelling.

P.S. What is the name of this App?

The rain cover they sent me is way to small. It does have a clear top but doesn't work on this bag. Waiting to see how the customer service handles this.

Don't you guys ever worry about losing your phone? Falling out of the mount? I can but a GPS for $150, a new cell phone is considerable more!

I have crossed Canada from sea to sea and back twice without dislodging my iPhone with my RT on 95% pavement with no issue. Definitely would not use it of real gravel and dirt riding though.

I high-sided and the bike landed upside down spinning onto its side at around 35mph (heavy braking, lifted rear, got bumped and set the rear down off-line.) Phone was in a RAM X-Grip on the handlebars, and never moved.
