2021 Death Valley, Presidents Day Weekend Rendezvous

Has anyone here ever attended the DV Rendezvous? Anyone planning to attend this year? Anyone riding over from the east coast? I am considering it, and it would be nice to have riding companions at least part of the way.

    Thanks,
    Joe H

Looks like it's still on, especially i imagine as the vaccines take hold in the next few months. Lots of the west coast guys go. Would be a fun ride for you if you can pick up a group along the way.

It’s one of the few places in the southwest that I know of where a campfire is allowed.
In a large group of AirHeads, they’ll be more than a few, (Knuckleheads?) that think to put another log on the fire is an understatement!

Rumblings, (misfires?) from local sources is that if the park is closed to try for a date in October.
Temperatures are reasonable by DV standards.

Hello Joe - as others have said yes, DV 2021 has been moved to October. It is a GREAT excuse for a ride, especially if you've never been to DV. Lots of good roads to get there, and ride around while you're down there. Bucket list stuff.

The weather is either fantastic, or extremely windy, or rainy. From day-to-day, or at 4AM. Be prepared!

We may move up the road a little to the Panamint Springs motel/camping site in case the Federal Park hasn't reopened. Join the Airheads club or keep an eye on www.airheads.org for the latest news.

    Thanks

    Thanks Ranbush,
I rejoined the Airheads a few months ago, soon after getting back on an Airhead, and paid up for the next two years. I also ride a GoldWing, and the GW riders have been having a DV rally on the same weekend as Airheads, for several years now. I have been tempted to make the DV rally for the last 2-3 years, but not sure I still have it in me at this point in life. If able to garner the intestinal fortitude, I'd prefer to go with a few other riders instead of alone. As of now, the GW folks have not canceled DV this year, but perhaps they are unaware the park is closed. They tend to prefer the local Motel 6, and I'd probably stay there too. After 30+ years in the USMC, I made a promise to self never to go camping again. I retired over 20 years ago and, so far, have kept that promise. LOL

The ABC calendar doesn't seem to be well maintained. The Death Valley event wasn't listed for February and not listed for October either.

To be determined. Right now it doesnít look like the February date is going to happen, and itís a big gig for a Rendezvous.
From what little I know about it is that lots of things are being considered.

There has been some discussion of a date in October for several sites, including but not limited to, Furnace Creek, Gold Point, and Panamint Springs.
