R100GS rear wheel mount problem

This has gotta be a dumb question.

Removed rear wheel to do some work on the exhaust. Rear wheel came off no problem but I cannot get it mounted. It won't make it around the circumference of the brake shoes.

Should I be attempting to mount the wheel with the shoes in the out position or pushed in towards the swing arm? (Neither is working.)

Is this a brute force job?

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance!

The brake shoes are rocked inward. Pull them out so that they are square, and the wheel will slide over them.

EDIT: I always back the adjuster off 10 or 20 turns before removing the wheel.

Thanks, Anton. Worked like a charm. Having only removed rear wheels with discs so far this was a good learning moment for me!
