Intermittent starting problem

2011 R1200 GSA, 81,000 miles. After riding bike and parking it for 10-15 minutes, it will not start. I turn on ignition key, fuel pump ramps up, headlight and instrument cluster illuminate properly, but when starter button is pressed nothing happens. After a few minutes of putting the side and center stands up and down, pulling in the clutch and putting it in and out of gear, turning key on/off, checking battery terminals, it will start. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? It is an intermittent problem and happens maybe 1 time in 30-40 starts. Thanks Dave G.

Do that sequence one at a time, and then attempt a restart each time until you can identify which device is causing the intermittent condition.

Yoda would also advise that you check the main ground at the battery. :)

When pushing the starter button, do you hear any click?
The relay is under the front frame.
If so,
I'd begin by giving the starter a good clean & bench test.

Mods should move this thread to Hexheads Forum. Better exposure there.

Sure :thumb
Will move it later.
