91 K75S Rubber washers under windscreen needed?

As I went to put my windscreen back on I see three out of four rubber washers stuck to the back of the screen. One is missing. I don't seem to see these on the Max BMW fiche. They are located where the screws hold the screen on, between the screen and the fairing. Are these standard? The screws that hold the screen on aren't that long to begin with. If the washers are a good idea, I'll try to find a substitute at the hardware. If not, I'll just put the screen on without any of them. Thanks.

John,

There were no washers originally on the rear of the windscreen, just the gasket.

The neoprene gasket or sheet that fits between the windscreen and the upper fairing body on my K75S was badly degraded and in need of replacement.

One can see this as part #2 on the exploded diagram below -

I obtained some 1/16-inch thick black rubber neoprene sheets from Amazon and was able to trace a pattern with the old gasket. I cut this out with scissors and a hole punch was used to make holes for the fasteners. These replacement rubber sheets are more robust than the original stuff.

I also decided to use some 1-inch dia x 1/8-inch thick rubber washers with 1/4 hole in the center along with some stainless steel fender washers over these rubber washers. These hold the windscreen securely when used with either #6 or #8 stainless screws of a length between 3/4 and 1 inch.

To each their own, but your steel washer approach sounds like it won't look very attractive, and in my almost 20 years with a K75S the stock screws hold just fine.

Never really thought about it being attractive or not. I was more interested in functionality. Periodically the small plastic inserts (shown as #3 above on exploded diagram) need to be inspected and likely replaced. In the spring I replace the taller Aeroflow windscreens with the stock units. Easy and functional.
