It helps when the dealer knows you well but like you said it doesn't hurt to ask.
Good theory, and thank you for the heads-up.
That link leads to a story about Max's BMW offering 20% off thru October on their fiche orders. Had I know of this I would have used it. Not knowing, I instead called my nearest dealer, who IS Max's, and spoke to the parts department. They told me there are no deals being offered, aside from free shipping.
I tried using these guys for my full order (clutch job), but every new clutch disc they offer, oil resistant and standard, is out of stock. I don't know if this is Covid related, or they just aren't keeping up with demand, but seeing a good clutch at an attractive price, only to be told "we don't have it and don't know when we'll get it" is rather frustrating.
