BMW NAV VI in earlier NAV IV Cradle misfit

jstrube

John.
Picked up a Nav IV cradle for use on a second bike because I like the 4 buttons, and do not have a Wonder Wheel on it. I went to snap my NAV VI in it and it seems like it does not quite snap in, there is interference or something in the mount. I can push it extra hard, but don't want to force anything, and especially have it pop out on the road.

Has anybody seen this before? possibly fixed it? I am thinking a bit of relief on the mount may be in order, but want to check with others. Surely someone has gone before me...

Thanks!
John.

My Nav VI came with the 4-button mount. There is a definite difference in the force needed to seat the Nav VI in the 4-button mount compared to the NavPrep mount on my GS. On the 4-button mount I find it necessary to pinch or squeeze the top of the Nav VI into the mount, and make sure the release button goes in by pressing it in. Once in, it stays solidly in the mount and functions well.

Best,
DeVern

The mount that came with my Nav 6 is super stiff and doesn't like to clip in. I used a little silicon lube on the button and that seemed to help, but it's always a little battle. I think that's just how they are.

Thanks guys!

I bought this to mount my NAV on my Ducati Scrambler, and do not want to lose my NAV in the process. I specifically went after a 4 button, to get that feature. I was worried there was a change or something in how they sized.

I'll give it a lube, and make sure to press hard. Any other ideas come in, I'll listen to those too!
