I recently ordered a replacement emergency key when I could not find the one that came with my 2018 GS. Ordering it had to be done in person and with title and ID in hand. I was told by the dealer parts person that the replacement emergency keys usually work without any programming intervention, but that if it didn’t work to bring the bike in and they’d handle it—tho no mention of cost was part of that discussion. The key worked perfectly, no programming needed, and of course...this weekend I found the original e-key while deep cleaning the luggage that normally stays on the bike. Such is life.
