2013 R1200RT Oil consumption

My new-to-me 2013 R1200RT has consumed about 3/4 of a quart of oil in about 4500 miles. I bought the bike with only about 5600 miles after the dealer had performed the 6k service. I see no drips on the garage floor and can’t see any leaking anywhere on the engine. I can only assume it’s burning the oil. Is this normal?

Hi All...disregard my question. I got the answers after reading the “similar threads” after posting. I guess i need to learn how to properly search on these forums since my attempts didn’t find anything.

Mine burns, on average, about 8 oz per 1,000 miles. I keep very careful records of oil added per mileage, like I added 400 ml on April 13th after riding 1,627 since I did the 18k service on Oct. 27, 2019 (that was the only add to date since the service but I estimate it's down another 200 ml since then). Others report no consumption at all. As long as you don't run it dry and it otherwise seems ok, just ride.

oil comsumpo

my 2011 R1200RT burned oil for about 12000 miles they just quit my first 900 mile was a quart it got better after that.don't forget your running a air cooled engine

My 2011 R bike consumed 8 to 10 oz of oil for the first 15k miles, then stopped. Do not be afraid to let the RPM's go up, builds cylinder pressure and helps seat rings.
