new to BMW's. Have a 73 R75-5, with an original Carver (?) windscreen. In the process of removing same. Came across this inside of windscreen. is this the tone generator for turn signals?

Looks like a turn signal beeper, which wasn't around in '73. Must be an add on. It could be an alarm, also not available in '73. Best to test with a continuity light to see what lights it.

Looks like a Sonalert. A very common “buzzer/high-pitched squealer” that is used in many close proximity situations.
Many were wired into turn signals as a reminder long before self-canceling technology was available.

You guys are the best. Yes, it is a turn signal beeper, didn't know it wasn't factory, since I acquired the bike thru another family member. My uncle bought it new, a cousin had it, now recently mine. Taking the faring off, want the "original naked bike look". Might keep the beeper, will see. Thanks again guys.
