For some reason Im not able to post pics from my SmugMug account, it's giving me some temporary code invalid thing when I try. I used to be able to but for the last couple of months it's been a no go.

Please help.

I'm not sure that I can help as I typically don't use my online account for my pictures...I typically just upload the images. I just tried posting something from my flickr account into a forum test area and it worked just fine. I believe there's a certain method that each of these sites has to display pictures...hopefully that hasn't changed. Maybe someone with a Smugmug account can check this out. About a month ago, the forums were moved to another server for better performance, etc. If another Smugmug owner has similar problems, then it might be that would a pattern which needs looking into.

Can you narrow down when this problem first showed up?

You could PM Kurt the embed code for the pictures and he could mess around with it. I would do it but currently away from full size computer.

On my flickr account, I clicked on "share" for the image, and then clicked on embed. That gave me a series of codes which I copied and pasted. The image then was visible on the screen.

Each site has its own protocol for how to do that.

I’m having the same problem as the bum with my postimg account. Has worked for years and suddenly does not. Still works on several other forums. It is a MOA forum issue in my opinion

Let's try attaching a pic from my computer, Insert Image, From Computer:

Seems OK. Let's try a picture from Flickr.

Pasting their link directly into the message looks OK from here.

Can't show you the line I pasted, the picture is being inserted again, even with the CODE wrapper. It's the URL with IMG wrappers.

Using the FLickr Embed code, copy and paste into the message also works:
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/65249955@N06/8621047159/in/album-72157634237560565/" title="20130405_091715"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/8105/8621047159_4310128448_w.jpg" width="400" height="300" alt="20130405_091715"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Using the Insert Image Icon, From URL, I can't get any of my Flickr pictures to post, though I know I've done it in the past by editing the copied BBCode. I get an "invalid file" error.

Lets try again with a web picture:

That also seems to work, but checking the Retrieve and store locally box produces an error: "Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file."

I know SmugMug took over Flickr some time ago, but I don't know if the two systems have been integrated yet.

This is a photo posted from Smug Mug

To post it, I clicked the "Insert Image" icon and selected "From URL" then unchecked the box that says "Retrieve remote file and reference locally."

I used the "Photo Only" option under Embed Photo at SmugMug

My guess is SmugMug has some security settings that have changed and don't allow downloading and storing the file on the forum server. But that is strictly a guess.

I get the same error code when I try to post, it works on all other forums I use so I agree it seems to be an MOA issue. I don't know why your SmugMug works and mine doesn't?

Did you use the same steps that Ted used? I think that's step #1. Could you post the specific steps you're taking and someone like Ted could use your steps.

Ah hah! I missed that bit about unblocking the retrieve remote. Testing it with a shot of a nice camping spot on the southern shore of Newfoundland. Thanks for pointing that out.

Tom -

First have you been able to post pictures before or is this the first time you're having this problem? Have you typically posted from your phone?

Most of the time, if you're trying to upload a picture from a device like a computer or a phone, it comes down to the image being too large. If you have a multi-pixel smartphone, I can almost guarantee that the pictures are too big. It's necessary to reduce the size image to something that is about 1Mb big to be sure that it will load probably. I typically only upload pictures from my computer where I have lots of control over the size. But from a smartphone, I'm not sure how to do that. I know sometimes with the email apps on phones, when you go attach a picture to an email, it might ask you about the quality of the image, so you might choose something like small, medium, or large...or some such.

-- update -- Just noticed that you posted and included a picture in the R1200RTW T shirts thread. Does that mean that things are OK now?
