Greetings all...nice to be here. Was a Harley guy for 25 years and prior to buying a 2017 RoadGlide for $28,500 i saw a 2002 K1200RS for Sale that looked like it rolled off the showroom floor. It had 7800 mile son it and the guy was asking $4000.
I never drove any kind of sport bike/sport tourer and took this thing for a ride .... a little afraid.... Got on the highway and felt good...looked down...I was doing 115 MPH...effortlessly and silently...wow. How in the world could a 15 year bike feel better than a new Road Glide??
Sold my 2009 Electra-Glide with Stage 4 upgrades and about $20K invested in it, kept the K1200rs and purchased a 2018 K1600B. Did I say WOW! Love the K bikes and having too much fun.
My self done (You-Tube Certified Mechanic) include the following:
K1200RS - Installed Ohlins front and rear, Replaced entire exhaust with Remus Sport Exhaust and headers, Booster Plug, Fuel QDs, driving lights, fuel filter, oil and gear fluid changes, air filter. Purchased Spiegler SS Brake lines and special wrench for ABS but have not built up courage to do so. Anyone with experience on that please let me know the difficulty factor.
