seeking the discontinued PIAA 1100X bulb

A few years ago, I knew PIAA was discontinuing their 1100X bulbs that I used on my 2003 K1200GT, so I bought four of them.

Well, I just used the last one so, I have no spares.

I went pretty deep online and couldn't a source.

Does anyone know a source they'd like to share?

Thanks in advance,

Try here, at Pep Boys

https://www.pepboys.com/piaa-1100x-platinum-super-white-replacement-bulb/product/9970197

You may have to find a store and try to get one there.

I bought a Philips 50W replacement LED bulb (7.5w LED/DEL) at Home Depot (bar code 46677 53493) for about $13.00 Cdn. I have an PIAA bulb on one side and the Philips on the other. Turned off, there is a slight colour difference; turned on, same colour, same brightness. :thumb

Because of the slight difference in the head shape, you may have to install a gasket for waterproofing. In my case, a few years ago, I had picked up a few PIAA knockoffs for my other bike which had a bulbous lens which I inserted into my PIAA 1100 housing. For me, a perfect fit. I would be surprised if you couldn't put a gasket around the lens for a waterproof seal.

Same brightness with a lot less draw on your electrical system.

Cheers!

I have a set of those PIAA 1100X's on my GS and over the past ten years or so, I've probably spent over $150 on replacement bulbs. One of them is burnt out right now and when the other one burns out they are going in the garbage where they should have gone years ago. There are many other options available that are just as good and in many cases for a lot less money.

+1
I think mine have been on four different bikes, and the bulbless housings and wires have been sitting in a box for a few years. I think it’s time for them to be buried with full honors.

Mark,

Since the Piaa 1100x does not appear to be original equipment on the K1200GT (according to the parts fiche. I could be wrong), I am going to move this to GEAR which is more appropriate for aftermarket items that fit virtually any bike.

Unless I am informed that this is an official BMW original equipment or option, I will move it this weekend.

Some info I found: https://www.bmwsporttouring.com/topic/86349-piaa-1100x-driving-lights-replacement-bulbs/
