    1992 K75 Standard speedometer/odometer issues

Howdy, gang. Took the K75 out for a shake down after going through it mechanically and have a new list of items to address. Speedometer needle goes up as speed increases but "sticks" at 40mph.......and stays there. Got the needle to indicate 60mph (I was going much faster......) where it stuck. Various speeds/stops/tapping on the gauge/foul language later and it is stuck back at 40mph. Got to reading threads and pulled the gauge cluster out. The speedometer face plate is "warped" around the shaft and the upper right hand side. Holding down those parts of the face and moving the needle full clockwise, the needle appears to be moving freely and will return back to "zero" on its own.

First question: What should I use to glue the face plate down to the plastic back?

Part 2: The odometer/trip odometer doesn't work. In reading the threads I see people mentioning gears.

Second question: Is the gear replacement a difficult job?

    Thanks in advance

Very reasonably priced and they did a great job on my beat-up airhead speedometer. When you get it back it will not only have full range of motion but will be accurate for the first time ever.

Yep, good outfit. All my problematic speedos go there. Fast service and fair prices.

I can't comment on the warped faceplate, but the gear replacement is fairly straightforward. I replaced them in my 85 K100RT in 2014 with gears from www.OdometerGears.com. They came with detailed instructions and guidance for things to check. I'd assume the process should be similar for your 92 K75.

Thanks, gentlemen. Against the sage advice of DeVern, I got some plastic Locktite glue and used that to flatten the dial face to the clear plastic back. It worked, but time will tell how well. Just got done ordering the gears. I pulled that assembly apart and the #3 gear is pretty much disintegrated. If I still have issues, come this winter, then the assembly will go off to be rebuilt.
