Smugglers' Notch Rt108, motorhomes, + BMW riders

Many local riders following tractor-trailers, largetrucks, or motor homes in the 'Notch' will take a break at Hell Brook or the Vistors Cabin. Being a single lane winding through boulders at the so-called summit, most local riders allow ample following distance. It can be a show sometimes, be glad you are wise enough to be part of the audience. :brow

I find it very hard to believe a tractor trailer driver would even attempt the notch, let alone make it through.

Now the Griswold family in a motorhome I can see. Nothing more entertaining / scarier than being near a rental RV.

Driving one, maybe? Couple of years ago, I went with some buddies in a rented RV to a concert in Coventry, VT. Long story short, I ended up driving the thing a good part of way back. I've never driven anything that big or expensive before. Scared the crap out of me.

Actually I meant being near one on a bike.

They are often driven by someone who has never handled something of that size and they are petrified by the experience.

It is just such a driver who might try to take one through the notch. ;)

There's NO WAY I'd have taken that thing through the notch. I kept it on the interstate, in the right lane at the speed limit. Hell, if I could have arranged a police escort, I would have.

I know what you meant, though. I'm just saying, it's scary no matter which side of the equation you're on.

It's a little ways from the rally, but a nice town to use as a base --

Stowe is a scenic 50 minute commute taking 108 up to 15 . The Stowe Motel sounds nice.

BTW, reading this thread one would wonder why the title ask if anyone's staying in Stowe, vs "RV Driving For Fun and Relaxation". :laugh

BTW II. It doesn't make me wonder why anyone would stay in Stowe and commute. What makes me wonder is why anyone would want to ride all the way to Vermont and stay in a multi-story interior corridor hotel in Burlington.
:sick

BTW III. Nice time to haed a little further east prior to the Rally.

commuting to rally

well, actually staying in Burlington itself could be nice, it's a nice town to walk and sightsee, or shop. But most of the hotels are barely multi-story. Stowe is definitely a nice area, but you might get sidetracked and forget to come to the Rally!! :brow
