Norton Motorcycles in Administration

According to the British motorcycle press, Norton Motorcycles is in administration (British for Chapter 11 bankruptcy). There are various accounts of why on the internet, including an unpaid tax bill of over 300,000 pounds and bikes paid for but never delivered. Regardless, the company seems to be in dire straights.

That is too bad. However, seems typical of so many efforts to revive classic brands. Apparently it takes far more money and resources than most of these revivals have or expect. Triumph is an example of someone who had vast amounts of money and could do it right the first time by building a whole new factory and taking the time for a ground up new design.

If you know anyone who bought one of the "new" Nortons, you also know why they're going out of business.
