F800GS Headlight moves up and down a few centimeters

Just noticed the headlight moves up and down a few centimeters. I tried to tighten the left and right of the headlight housing but i can still move it up and down. Is this normal?

Nope, you should be able to tighten up the headlight so it doesn't move. I'd take out both of the bolts all the way, and verify that they aren't stripped. Make sure to catch the washers (if you have them), you'll need those to help with proper spacing.

Perhaps the metal inserts that the bolts screw into are not secure to the plastic headlight housing?

Left too many washers in. Removed and now works great. Touratech instructions were not very clear. You do not need 3 washers but only 2 (one from headlight to headlight bracket and one from Touratech bracket to screw) you do not need the washer from Touratech bracket to the headlight bracket.

Just a suggestion: you might check in at F800riders.org. They focus on the F800 series of bike and have lots of posters/riders who can help with this, and other, issues. There is a fair amount of crosstalk between that forum and this forum, but some real twin specialists over there.

Good luck.

Although the F800riders.org forum is fine, when it comes to the technical aspects of the F800/700.650GS bikes nothing beats the Parallel Universe forum over on ADVrider.com .

Good to see you figured it out.
