2015 RT Mirror removal/access

My 2016 RT didn't have the push pin type rivets shown in the RepROM either, but I was careful enough to not destroy them.
Did you actually destroy both rivets so you can't compare them at an auto parts store? These don't have to be perfect, they just bind a couple of thin plastic panels together. Go to a NAPA or AutoZone and buy a selection of common automotive panel connectors whether push pin or solid.

Good Luck

Good Luck

Only destroyed the one that I was trying to remove, but that has shaken my confidence to try and remove the other one. And yes, I agree. Any push pin rivet of the right size would work.

If they are NOT push pin types on your bike (and mine weren't) then slip a couple of putty knife/spatulas under opposite sides of the cap and slowly and carefully lift, or at least twist so the edges lift. Try alipping some dental floss under the edge of the cap and then wrapping it a few times around the shank and pulling up. These are $2 parts at best. Don't worry about OEM parts that don't exist or are so hard to exactly match. It doesn't have to be a push pin type. Really! Measure the hole left in the panel from the pin removed, then take an automotive savy friend or an auto body specialist to the auto parts store with you and have him or her help you find a suitable replacement that will do the job.

For anybody who has been following this silly saga, I have solved the problem.

No one at any dealer was able to help, although the guys at Sierra BMW made an above and beyond the call of duty effort.

In the end, I did an image search for BMW expanding rivet and ended up buying a few rivets that are ostensibly for a BMW car. Perfect fit and problem solved.
