    '97 R1100R Shocks Replacement

Good day. I'm looking to replacing shocks on my R1100R with 85K miles on the odo. Initially, I was leaning toward Progressive brand, but they only show replacement shocks for the RS. Could those be a direct substitute, or are the OEM's my only solution? Thanks.

There are many choices out there. Wilbers has a good reputation. There's also Ohlins and Hagon. You could also have your stock shocks rebuilt.

Who's doing stock shocks now? There was a guy a few years ago, sadly he passed away.

I put Hagon shocks front and rear on my R1100RS. I thought the price was fair, the shocks can be rebuilt, and I have been pleased with the results. Following is a link to the application chart; one can find the specific bike of interest and see the relevant part numbers, features, options, etc. I called and provided more specifics, e.g., anticipated loads on the bike and type of riding majority of time.

Accelerated Technologies (John Sharrard) in Ontario. Did a fine job on the front shock of my R1100S.

Ted Porters Beemer shop has many different brands and models of shocks and a web site that is easy to use.
