Hi,
Bought my first BMW in 2019. A nice low milage 90th Anniversary 2013 R1200RT that I found to scratch a sport touring itch I have had for a few years. I poked around and joined the MOA since the previous owner had an MOA sticker on the bike, decided to join instead of peeling the sticker...

I spend a lot of time riding and racing off road/enduros, dual sports, adventure riding. I have owned and own a few various brands, and like to have the best tool for the job.

The RT so far has been an exceptional motorcycle, my wife says it is the best one I have ever bought from her perspective after a weekend trip in the NC mountains this Fall. I like it too, but could see myself looking at new RS version down the road if my arm was twisted, Ha!

Welcome to the forum and the MOA. You don't mention where in NC you're located, but I would recommend you join the Tar Heel Travelers. They're an MOA chartered local club. Many members in the Raleigh and Fayetteville area, and a bunch in the Piedmont as well as some throughout the state. Several scheduled rides each month, dinners and meetings. Nice folks.

Digital delivery of the monthly newsletter is $10 a year.

www.tarheelbmw.org and a FB group also.

Elsewhere m_stock10506 posted a link to a downloadable brochure on scenic byways in NC. From experience I can tell you that many of these roads are quite nice to ride on, particularly during the weekdays.

And just to the north in Virginia are some good rides. I obtained a free paper map showing selected routes at the BMW motorcycle dealership in Greensboro. Many of these routes are found at the link below -

Thanks Micheal, I am currently in Mooresville/Lake Norman area as of about 6 months ago for work, but have lived my life in Wilkesboro with college time in Boone. I will look up the Tarheel club web site, thanks!

Thanks Rob!
I am new to BMW, but have been riding for years. Grew up in the foothills and mountains of NC, and have covered lots of ground in the western half of NC, Southern VA, WV, East TN, and N GA. You are correct, lots of wonderful roads and riding!
Thanks!
Brian
