My association with BMWs began in 1997 when I bought an R75/6 as my first-ever bike. It was very solid, felt like a World War 2 flying machine. Took trips from San Francisco up to Astoria OR and down to Palomar Observatory, both with my recently-deceased Dad. He left me his 2009 R1200 RT and 2013 F800 GT. But I may be moving so will probably have to sell them.
