I rode "Gonzo", my 1977 R100RS from Denver, CO to the rally site in Harlesville, PA last month.

Welcome to Harleysville

This was the third 40th anniversary rally celebrating BMW airheads designed by Hans Muth that Todd Trumbore organized; the first was in September 2014 for the R90S, second in September 2017 for the R100RS, and this one, the last, was for the R65LS and R80G/S. As was the case for the previous rallys, Hans Muth attended along with several other interesting speakers.

I wrote a blog about what I saw and heard at the rally that you can find here:

An added treat at this rally was Todd's "Bavarian Bike Barn", which was complete so we could stroll among the many vintage and classic motorcycles he has collected over the years.

I also wrote some blogs about the sites I saw on my ride out and back that will find here.

When I attended the 2017 rally on Gonzo, I had a great time. This rally was as good, or better and my hat is off to, Todd Trumbore, who organized these rallies. They were first rate.

Yes—a most excellent event! I rode my ‘84 R100RT to the gathering from Michigan, and it made the round trip without a hiccup. I had briefly asked Hans about his role in designing the RT, and he acknowledged that he had done so. I may’ve planted the seed with him that its creation was similarly worthy of an anniversary commemoration, so while most expect that this was his (and perhaps, Todd’s) last shindig of this sort, the RT seems like a plausible rationale for another!

My ‘82 LS was there from Newfoundland. I was sorry I had to leave early and miss Hans talk about the LS. What did I miss?

I think there are a few more Hans Muth signed bikes now. :)

It was great to meet you Brook.

Thanks for putting up your blog post Brook. I could see the LS as a young persons bike rather than a long distance runner even though it does it pretty well.

Mine is one of them
