K1600 Recall Data Published in the Netherlands! IMPORTANT!

Ugh

The PDF for some reason contained an image that had more of the data - it was missing during the print:
BMW Motorrad recalls the BMW K1600 GT / GTL / Dredger / Grand America to replace parts of the gearbox. It is specifically about the models

K 1600 GT (0F01 / 0F11)
K 1600 GTL (0F02 / 0F12)
K 1600 Dredger (0F51 / 0F53)
K 1600 Grand America (0F51 / 0F53)
which are produced between September 2016 and September 2019 .
 
NHTSA (USA's Recall authority) has no information. Looks like 462 bikes affected in the Netherlands.
 
If it a problem with the shifter fork, anybody check to see how “deep” it is in the engine?
I did a shifter fork on a Honda years ago. From where the shift lever attached, the rod went clear through to the other side of the engine where the actual “Y” shaped was attached (to the rod). It was most likely pretty simple compared to having 5 more cylinders to work around.

Seems like the K1300 transmission slid out the side. The K1600 probably has the same type of transmission.
 
Yes, the K1600 transmission will come off the engine as an assembly. I wonder if BMW will trust techs to do the repair or just swap out the assembly?

When Yamaha came out with a new R1 back in '16(?) they discovered a gear problem with the transmission. Yamaha recalled all of the R1s and repaired the transmission. The engine had to be removed from the motorcycle and engine cases split to get to the transmission. It was a big job and only certain dealers and techs were allowed by Yamaha to do the repair.
