Broken Gas Filler Cap

I have 2002 rt1150,while refueling ,tank bag fell on open gas cap and snapped it off at hinge. Was on trip and had to secure with tape to prevent leakage which worked fortunately. In my search to replace it ,it appears to be an expensive misfortune.Replacement cap lists for 240.00 from BMW.Are there any other alternatives to this dilemma?

Yes, buy a billet replacement. It won't lock but who cares? Screws on and you don't need to unlock it every time you fill up. Various colour combinations.

Here's another choice....

One is much cheaper than the other. I've used both with equal success. Keep in mind that if you buy a used, stock cap you'll either be using two keys or have to get the replacement one re-keyed to match your ignition lock.
